Funding Utilisation

How funding is spent

Research projects vary widely in their funding needs according to the complexity of the factors affecting the disease and difficulties in collecting the data.

At the lower end of the project are costs for diseases such as migraine and acne, where a detailed questionnaire and postal sample will provide the necessary research data without needing individual visits. Though difficult to predict, research time can also be modest in some studies. Where a detailed clinical examination of twin pairs within a selected group is necessary, costs typically exceed £200,000.

The CDRF, unlike other charities, will accept suggestions for disease areas to study - depending on the donation size.
